LOL i honestly thought by february i would have forgotten because if you know me i’m queen of starting projects and never following through. maybe lazy, maybe bored, maybe fearful. by some miracle chance i actually kept going, and not only did I complete 12 books i added two extra (over achiever? 💁🏾♀️). anyway, if I could encourage anyone to read one book beginning of 2020 it would be this one. Big Magic was the perfect finale to my challenge and it fueled my creative juices that were on empty for too long. I’m so so inspired for this new year ahead (thank you to @matthew_kaz for the recommendation!) now the 2020 goal is to continue this commitment so that means i need more books!! please please share with me your favorite book!!.

Our intention was to put the energy we would have given to the time we were spending into our spiritual development. To zoom out from the picture we were staring at every day, every moment and allow for a new perspective. My nerves crept up as we prepared for the week, I was worried about that voice in my head. The voice that tries to tell me I’m incapable or unworthy… That I am small, and hard to love. With all the alone time ahead, I prayed the voice that usually whispers these secrets didn’t have the space to grow in volume. What a perfect opportunity for that to happen, right? But once the week began, the wave of calmness and peace that flowed over me was truly magic. Never once before had I felt so secure so loved and so supported- and not just by Alex. All of this by just allowing room to breathe. The shift that transpired awakened my spirit. Alive, in love, and in gratitude. I am not fully renewed but the start to my (long overdue) journey has begun. The path where I start to discover that I am so capable I am so worthy I am big and I am lovable. Thank you to my bestie for giving me space to unravel, and bloom. Oh, love... such a silly wonderful thing we get to experience 🥲 loook at God!.

Many many years ago my brother was driving while I was in the passenger seat. As we came around a bend, a truck from the opposite side of the road made an unprotected turn, trying to turn before we quickly approached. It would have been impossible for my brother to brake in time, we would have crashed dead on with the truck. Instead my brother reached his hand across to me said “It’ll be okay” while simultaneously attempting to swerve around the truck. Unfortunately, the oncoming traffic from the lane next to us was coming too fast and my brother positioned his car so that he would take the impact. Leaving me untouched. Marshea died on the way to hospital but his strength, will to live, and the heroic ambulance team revived him. I will never forget my brother protecting me, the way his hand reached out to comfort me, the way he thought of me before himself. He sacrificed for me, his little sis. He remembered nothing of that day, but I reminded him as many times as he needed every detail and how he loved me. We didn’t realize the effect the accident would have on him, but I know he would have protected me again and again.
Marshea, I still hear you telling me “it will be okay” and I know you’re telling those words to me now. You’ve been the strongest person I know… falling so many times and getting back up. Every single time. I know you’re helping me be strong like you big brother, I feel your hand comforting me like all those years ago. My hero.
