Dele Alake Political Career
During the politically tumultuous period of the controversial 1993 election, which was annulled by General Ibrahim Babangida, the then military president, Dele Alake emerged as a prominent figure, bravely leading the charge against oppression and terrorization.
From 1999 to 2007, Dele served as the Commissioner for Information and Strategy to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the former Governor of Lagos State. His role during this time was crucial in effectively communicating the government's initiatives and policies to the public.

Alake commenced his career by completing his mandatory one-year national service with the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) before assuming the role of Senior Sub-Editor at the Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation (LSBC). He progressively climbed the ranks, serving as a Current Affairs Officer and later as a Principal Current Affairs Officer in 1983. Notably, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of Lagos Television (LTV 8).
In 1985, Alake ventured into print journalism when he joined the defunct Concord Press, publisher of the Concord Group of Newspapers, including National Concord and Sunday Concord. He contributed as an editor and writer, as well as a columnist for the National Concord. From 1989 to 1995, he served as the editor of Sunday Concord.
During the 1993 general election, Alake served as Chief MKO Abiola's Adviser on Information, working diligently to propel Abiola's campaign. Despite facing oppression from General Sanni Abacha's dictatorial regime due to his unwavering commitment to justice, Alake persisted. Eventually, he sought refuge in exile, forming a coalition with notable figures such as Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, Senator Bola Tinubu, Chief John Oyegun, and Lt. Gen. Alani Akinrinade (Rtd.) within the National Democratic Coalition of Nigeria (NADECO).
In 1999, Senator Bola Tinubu, now the Governor of Lagos State, appointed Alake as his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, a role that later transitioned into State Commissioner for Information and Strategy.
In 2010, Alake declared his intention to run for the senatorial seat of Ekiti Central in Ekiti State. However, due to political party conflicts at the time, he decided to withdraw his aspiration. Subsequently, in 2014, he was appointed as the Director of Media and Communication for the Buhari Campaign Organization, supporting President Muhammadu Buhari's presidential ambition in the 2015 general election.
In anticipation of the forthcoming 2023 general election, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Alake as the Director of Media and Communication for The Tinubu Campaign Council, tasking him with spearheading the campaign efforts to promote Tinubu's presidential bid.
