He is the major shareholder in Nathan Limited the biggest garment making company in West Africa. In Agriculture, Martin Agbaso founded Agbaso Integrated Farms, a technology driven farm situated on a 35 hectares of Land in Emekuku.

Martin's political career began in 1992 when he won the Imo East Senatorial seat under the platform of the National Republican Convention. He also won senatorial election again in 1998 under the umbrella of the Democratic Party of Nigeria.
He was appointed by then Nigerian President, Olusegun Obassanjo as special assistant to the President on Ecology from 2001 to 2004.
He later became the
All Progressives Grand Alliance (At PGA) candidate for the gubernatorial
election in Imo State in 2007. He went on to become the Imo state leader of
APGA, he rose to the position of APGA National Chairman, a position he held
from 2017 to 2018.
In 2018, he joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) with
over 27,000 members from APGA.
He is currently one of the top contenders for the post of Imo State Governor in the upcoming gubernatorial elections.
